History
The industrial city of Yanbu is the second industrial city managed by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. It is located 350 km northwest of Jeddah and 200 km west of Medina, covering an area of 606 km².
Yanbu is home to the largest oil export port on the Red Sea coast and the largest handling station for petroleum and chemical liquids. The city is strategically located near the Suez Canal and the North African countries, serving as a gateway to the European markets. It is also centrally positioned between America and the Far East.
Yanbu Industrial City represents the western endpoint of the crude oil and liquefied natural gas pipeline network, which stretches approximately 1,200 kilometers across the Kingdom, from the oil fields and gas processing plants in the Eastern Region to Yanbu Industrial City in the West.
Most of the crude oil is exported to global markets, and the remainder, along with natural gas, is used as fuel and raw materials in refineries and other industries in Yanbu Industrial City.
